Spring and summer are extra busy times for us at Remembering Janet. This is when we file our 990-PF with the IRS, write an annual report, review scholarship applicants, and provide awards. Some of those things--maybe even all of them--may not sound very exciting. But all are necessary to stay in compliance with the government, share our progress with the public, and be able to do what we like to do most: spread God's love, in our own way.
When we first set out on this philanthropic venture, we were told that the road would be difficult--establishing a private foundation would be expensive; and running it would take more time than most people are willing to put in. Now three years later, we know exactly what our well-intended friends meant by that advice.
When we tire . . . which we do, we don't have to look far before we find inspiration to keep working hard. Sometimes, we're reinvigorated when a friend joins us in our mission and donates to our scholarship fund. Other times, it's a word of thanks from a recipient who helps us understand that support takes many forms: financial; emotional; prayerful.
Our Treasured Donors and our Scholarship Recipients make our work more enjoyable. We hope you see that message in this year's annual report, embedded below. Happy reading!
